We've all seen them. The glowing online reviews of businesses that may well be fake. NBC News reported on this trend back in July of 2022. I got interested in the dentist profiled in that article because a good friend told me about their horrific experience at this dentist's office. They also mentioned receiving phone calls that bordered on harassment after demanding a refund. So, I checked the Yelp page of this dentist and saw this announcement:
This is an actual Yelp review of the dentist found on his Yelp page.
After I posted my review on Yelp, I began receiving phone calls from doctors Zakhors office.. Which I declined, I then started receiving unknown number calls, which I also ignored. Finally I began receiving text messages from Dr. Zakhor on my personal cell phone. I did not give this doctor my cell phone number or even my last name so I'm not sure how he came across my number. I asked him several times to stop texting me which he ignored. As a woman, I find it so scary that this man would go out of his way to hunt down my personal number, and harass me over a yelp review. It made me feel frightened and unsafe and I cannot believe a medical doctor is doing this. I told him I would be reporting him to Yelp and blocked his phone number after he ignored my request to stop contacting me. This is not the typical behavior of a health care professional and I would be very wary of engaging with him.
Red flags abound, if this is true. Is it? Only the author and the dentist know for sure.
I found it interesting that two glowing reviews of this business appeared on his Yelp page within the four days after the above review was posted. One of them mentioned that they had their veneers done by this dentist six years earlier. They did not post a review then. Why now?
The other reviewer had posted a 5-star review of this particular dentist in 2014. Ten years later, a new review of the same dentist. But five years ago, the same Yelper posted this:
People change dentists all the time. This proves nothing. But, this is worth noting.
Here is a review that is marked 'Not Recommended' on Yelp.
Terrible experience! Problems continue. Bad reviews are hiding. There is a link at the bottom of the page.
10/22/2020 Previous review First, I want to direct you to the bottom of the page here on Yelp. Scroll down, after all the info and reviews, there is a clickable link for "reviews that are not recommended by Yelp." Click it, and you will see many negative reviews which do not count in the company's overall star rating. Now for my ongoing experience. I have shown Zakhor evidence that his veneers have caused me a lot of trouble, but he refuses to refund me. It costed me $12,000 for 8 veneers, and I am still out this money. It's a long story, but I ended up having braces placed ON TOP OF HIS VENEERS! Who ever heard of that? The veneers, which are expensive, are supposed to be the final product. I have been under the care of 2 other dental practitioners who are working to fix the problems he has created, and he has seen proof of this, but he does not care to refund me. He offered to re-do the work, but I don't want him touching me! I feel you should all be warned. Also, check out UNICOURT.com, search his name, and you will find many cases- this guy is litigious. He also tried to intimidate me using a Florida lawyer who is not licensed in California. He also lied to the court stating he was a member of the Dental Association and that they would mediate a dispute. He is (or was) not a member, and I had to have the judge re-instate a court case against him. I have talked with others who have had trouble with him. My advice is that you find someone else. Don't even get started with him. Read less2/18/2020 Previous review Do yourself a favor and stay far away! He is suing me a third time for my honest reviews. He did not show up to the first 2 cases. Please find the section on Yelp at the bottom of the page called "207 reviews for Zakhor Dental Group that are not currently recommended" and click on it. Read those before you go and book him. Also, if you do go ahead and book him, DO NOT pay in advance, no matter how much pressure they put on you - and they do. Be aware that he is involved in MANY court cases - it's public record. Just look him up. He'll tell you he has 10 years experience, but doing the time does not necessarily make for a quality professional! It is only when I went to get more opinions, having been very dissatisfied with his work, that I found out how much he really does not know! He messed me up, requiring me to go to other professionals to clean up his mess. To make things worse, he can't admit it, or doesn't even understand it (that's why I say his experience does not translate into quality). He then finds it perfectly OK to ignore the financial agreement we had made, when considering how much to refund me, after I had pre-paid a very large sum, and then quit the treatment plan due to his incompetence. He has proven that he is willing to lie to a judge about said agreement, pretending like the agreement did not happen, although the paperwork is ambiguous. Yes, we are beginning a legal battle! He is also unwilling to refund me for the lousy work he did complete, but IS willing to re-do it himself! I don't trust him anymore, so I have to have it re-done by someone else. He insists his work is great-- why then, do I need to have it re-done? He won't answer that. He sent me pictures he would use to show people that his work looks good-- the problem-- the pictures are not comparable, and if he did use them, he would be misrepresenting. I think you should all know that. He can make it look like whatever, but the truth does not change. How unethical of him to make things appear differently than what they really are! I am now in the beginning stages of suing him for the money I have pre-paid him, because he only agrees to refund part of it. I am also in the process of getting his work fixed by true professionals, and I am developing a case against him to get a refund for the mess he has made. It could end up in malpractice too, we'll see. Don't trust this guy! These reviews are from the Better Business Bureau website. This is an action filed before the California Board of Dentistry. Were this dentist to see this blog post, he would almost certainly label it as a "smear." How so? The reviews were written by others. The action filed by Attorney General Bonta against this dentist with the Board of Dentistry is a real, legal document.
